Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2017

Date: 2016-12-29
In line with the UAE government’s push to promote sustainable living, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is back this year for its 10th edition. Running from 12 to 21 January, ADSW will bring world leaders, policy makers, thought leaders, decision makers, experts, scientists, business leaders and academics together to discuss, debate, and ultimately address the energy and sustainability challenges of the future.

Anchored by the World Future Energy Summit, the 2017 programme will feature a series of complementary events, conferences and exhibitions, including The International Water Summit, The Zayed Future Energy Prize Award Ceremony, The International Renewable Energy Agency meeting, and Ecowaste. While the majority of the events are only for participants or by invitation, there are a few that will be open to the public:

The Student Exclusive
A one-of-a-kind, youth-oriented event, this programme focuses on sustainability and offers creative activities for students to encourage their involvement in renewable energy advancement. It will be held on 17 January at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

WiSER Conference
Founded by Masdar, WiSER is an initiative that seeks to empower women to be catalysts of innovation, industry leaders and drivers of commercial solutions to expand and secure access to energy, water and food while mitigating climate change. The initiative’s annual conference will be held on 17 January at ADNEC.

The Festival
ADSW will close with a two-day public festival at Masdar City which seeks to inspire UAE residents to adopt more sustainable practices. This year’s festival will feature themed educational zones, local exhibitors promoting sustainable living solutions, organic produce, a variety of workshops for children and family, live music and food stalls.
