Beauty Salons & Nail Bars

Beauty is big business in Abu Dhabi, and you’re never far from a salon where you can pop in for a quick mani-pedi, massage or facial. With all of these treats available at comparatively cheaper prices than many other cities – you can expect to pay around Dhs.50 for a manicure and Dhs.60 for a pedicure – most expats find themselves indulging in a spot of pampering more often than they would back home. Fridays tend to be the busiest day for salons, with customers prepping for the weekend ahead, so be sure to book in advance. Salons specifically for kids and others aimed at gents are also available throughout the city.

Many beauty salons and spas offer the traditional art of henna or mendhi, for special occasions or a fun experience for visitors. A design is drawn on your skin with henna paste that dries, flakes off, and leaves a stain that darkens, then fades after two or three weeks. Prices vary depending on the complexity of the design you choose. Some people have negative reactions though, so make sure you test on a patch of skin first.
