Utilities & Services

For all the joy of moving in, there's also an array of phone calls to make and services to set up. Rarely does anything happen quickly or easily when it comes to this sort of thing, but being armed with the right information and approaching it all with a calm attitude can certainly help.

Paying on time
Don't forget that once you've moved in, the regular utility bills will need to be paid on time or you risk being cut off. No notice is given, you'll simply find your internet has stopped working or there's no water coming from the taps. Often you can get these reconnected quite quickly, but it can depend on the provider. Direct debits are only just starting to be employed in the country, so it can sometimes mean a one-off monthly payment and even a trip to a counter to pay the bill in person.
