Jumeira & Umm Suqeim

The community feel of this area is a pleasant contrast to the large malls that shoppers are used to in Dubai. The whole strip is a bit long to walk (Jumeira Road and Al Wasl Road stretch from Souk Madinat Jumeirah up to 2nd December Street), but there are clusters of stores, restaurants and cafes all the way along both streets, several community malls and shopping arcades, and a couple of larger malls. Shops range from high-end boutiques to high-street chains; from furniture to fancy dress. Many businesses in the area are located in villas; these are mostly spas, dentists, hairdressers, and cosmetic surgery clinics.

On Al Wasl Road there are a variety of art galleries, garden stores, hair salons, dentists and vets – all accessed by service roads. The popular Spinneys Centre and Al Safa Centre, a community shopping centre that’s home to Park n Shop and Pizza Express, are expat favourites. At the Satwa end of Al Wasl Road is the Al Ghazal Complex, perhaps most well known by partygoers for Mr Ben’s Costume Closet. There’s also supermarkets including Choithrams, Waitrose and the Union Co-operative Society.
