Dubai is well geared up for taking people on tours of its attractions and highlights. While many of these are primarily aimed at visitors, there’s nothing to stop residents getting to know – and simply enjoying – the various leisure pursuits on offer to holidaymakers.
Some tours are offered by most operators, particularly desert experiences and dhow cruises; both of these are great options for when you have guests in town. Other companies run memorable, specialised tours, such as diving trips, aerial sightseeing and trekking, while almost all the firms listed here will tailor programmes to suit individual needs.
The classic option is the desert safari. Expert drivers blast four wheel drives up, down and around massive dunes while passing old Bedouin villages and pointing out incredible natural attractions. Mountain safaris lead passengers through the narrow wadis and steep passes of the Hajar Mountains. Most driving safaris include pickup from your place of residence and lunch. Some end the day of daredevil driving at a replica Bedouin camp where passengers can watch a belly dancer, eat Arabic delicacies and smoke shisha.
