The use of credit cards is widespread and popular. People use their cards for everything, limits are rarely in place, and no one will blink when you use one to buy a pack of gum. Cash is also accepted but in a city devoted to cars, the drive-through is far more conducive to plastic than it is to cash. Most gas stations offer a speed pass option, which allows the customer to wave a magnetic keychain at the pumps and fill up without even having to worry about opening their wallet. In the United States, and particularly in Los Angeles, easier is always better.
