For a massive metropolis, Los Angeles offers surprisingly good camping options. The best spots are along the coast where you’ll pay very little to stay on priceless property across the street from beautiful beaches. Malibu has several campsites where you can wake up in the morning and go for a surf. All LA County camping is operated by the California State Parks (www.parks.ca.gov). Highly recommended is Leo Carrillo State Park, which offers great camping, great surfing, and even Wi-Fi access.
