Overnight
With the length of the drive to Liwa, and the vast area of desert to explore once you get there, this route should really be planned to cover a few days, with at least two nights spent in the desert. A three-day stay would allow you to have a good explore of the Liwa Oasis, and then head into the desert for a weekend of intense off-road driving.
If you can budget even more time to allow for long lunches and early camping stops, you will get the full benefit of the amazing surroundings. For most people, a trip to Liwa inspires further visits, so don’t try cramming too much in – you’ll be back.
