Check In: Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa

Date: 2014-10-14
Location: The east coast town of Khorfakkan is actually, quirkily, an enclave of Sharjah emirate within Fujairah. With a large sweeping bay fringed by rugged mountains, it is a beautiful escape from the city – and the drive through the Hajar Mountains to get there is spectacular.

Accommodation: Rooms in the main building of the Oceanic Khorfakkan Resort & Spa overlook either the bluer-than-blue sea of the bay or the mountains, and are rather quaint and comfortable. Brand new one and two bedroom villas are also available and packed with modern amenities such as kitchen facilities, sound systems, barbecues and large-screen TVs.

Activities and facilities: The large pool has a swim-up café if you don’t fancy lounging on the private beach. Be sure to check into 360 Health Club & Spa for a treatment – massages are expert and treatment rooms calmingly overlook the stunning bay.

There’s also a dive centre onsite, Deep Blue Sea, and the east coast is your gateway to the UAE’s best dive sites. You can book a dive, take a course, or just head out on a snorkelling trip.

Dining: The Oceanic Khorfakkan has an all day dining restaurant, Al Murjan, which serves classic, well prepared Arabian dishes and lots more besides in a buffet style. There’s also snacks and mocktails available by the pool, a tea lounge and 24-hour in-room dining.

Who’s staying: The Oceanic attracts a mix of guests, but especially GCC nationals. If you fancy something a bit different, away from the city, it’s a good value option in a beautiful part of the country. The fact that it is 'dry' means it is great for families looking for a peaceful time.
