Abu Dhabi Police receives all 999 calls but you can dial 998 to be put straight through to ambulance services. Private medical firms such as NMC run fleets of ambulances. You will need to subscribe to access their services, or pay for one-off use.

Where to go
Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and off-island Al Rahba Hospital have the best accident and emergency (A&E) departments in Abu Dhabi, although Al Mafraq and Al Noor Hospitals also have good A&E departments. Part of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, the Khalidiyah Urgent Care Center, treats minor emergencies such as abdominal pain, cold and flu, minor bone breaks, ear, nose and throat issues, asthma attacks, rashes, vomiting and diarrhoea.

In Al Ain, Al Ain Hospital deals with general accidents and emergencies, while Tawam Hospital specialises in emergency traumas. The A&E departments at both these hospitals are efficiently managed and you rarely have to wait long. While finding a place for emergency treatment is easy, getting there can be more problematic as Abu Dhabi’s paramedic services are developing.
