Universities and Colleges

In the past, the vast majority of expat teenagers returned to their home countries for university. However, the growing number of institutions in the UAE are enticing more people to stay here for their tertiary education. There are also a number of opportunities for post-graduate study here.

International universities
Public institutions are free for UAE citizens, but the amount of international universities is increasing in Dubai as the interest in higher education grows. There are plenty of universities, colleges and business schools available. Many institutions are based at Knowledge Village near Media and Internet Cities, and Dubai International Academic City, on the outskirts of Dubai.

Part-time and online learning
Some offer students the opportunity to study part-time, or in a structured e-learning environment through the use of a range of learning strategies. International correspondence courses and distance learning schemes, are also available. Gulf News’ classifieds section carries adverts for the numerous other study options for short courses.
