Renewing A Uae Driving Licence
UAE driving licences must be renewed every 10 years, or you will be charged Dhs.10 per day from the date of expiry. This service can be done via RTA-approved opticians and does not require you to visit an RTA office. However, before the licence is renewed, all outstanding traffic fines must be cleared.
Prerequisites
- UAE driving licence (valid or expired)
- Register as a new user on the RTA website (rta.ae)
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Passport with residence visa or Resident ID (copy and original)
- UAE driving licence (valid or expired)
- Eye test certificate, available at any RTA-approved optician in Dubai (Dhs.50-100)
Procedure
- An RTA-approved optician
- Take the eye test (Dhs.100) and the optician will upload the result and send it to the RTA for a licence renewal.
- Optician can also upload and send your scanned passport or Resident ID, plus your photo.
- Pay off all outstanding fines online via dubaipolice.gov.ae or at an RTA licensing office.
- Pay the renewal fee (Dhs.110) online or at an RTA licensing office.
