If you plan to buy a vehicle you will need to ensure that it is registered and insured.

In all instances you will have to pay a road toll, called Salik, to drive along some roads in Dubai such as Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Maktoum Bridge. If you rent a car you will pay the hire company the charges (as well as any speeding or parking fines) on a monthly basis. If you are the vehicle owner you will need to set up a personal Salik account.
Once you’re licensed to drive a private vehicle in Dubai, the next step is often to buy a vehicle. A car dealership will help you through the various procedures, but if you’re buying – or selling – privately, you’ll need to know which steps to follow.
