Owning a vehicle

Owning a car essentially requires you have an annual registration that confirms the vehicle is roadworthy, as well as an insurance policy to cover the vehicle. Aside from that it's just general maintenance, finding somewhere to park it and making sure you keep it legal.

Many drivers choose to block out the sun's glare and get their vehicle's windows tinted. The legal limit is 30% and there is a fine for those who get caught going darker; although you suspect it's rarely monitored. Tinting will set you back around Dhs.200 for an average sized car. The tinted windows can also help to keep the interior of a car cooler, although there are some clear films that can perform a similar job nowadays.
