Al Qouz

Head into the industrial wilderness of Al Qouz and you’ll find some real gems, which make use of the space and versatility of the ubiquitous warehouses. Al Qouz 1 is home to The Courtyard, which has some interesting shops and galleries, and hosts a farmers’ market on Saturdays. Nearby Dubai Antique Museum is an enormous wonderland of furniture, souvenirs and much more, and then there’s Alserkal Avenue, with a host of edgy art galleries.

Lining Sheikh Zayed Road are a number of retail outlets and car dealerships; dig a little deeper and you’ll find stores such as Safita, which sells well-priced wooden Indian furniture. Kidz Inc sells furniture and toys for children, while Just Kidding has all the latest baby equipment. The nearby branch of Lime Tree Cafe has some lovely edible and kitchen goodies that make great gifts. Dubai Garden Centre has everything for the garden, and the Sun & Sand Sports outlet behind Gold & Diamond Park has lots of bargains.
