Considering Oman

While some expats come to live in Oman for a fixed term, there are many thousands of foreigners who stay for much longer periods and are in no hurry to move. And it’s not hard to see why: sunshine almost every day of the year, great leisure facilities, a beautiful mix of scenery (ocean, mountain, desert, greenery), luxurious hotels and their top-notch in-house restaurants, and a pace of life that is neither too hectic nor too boring. And to top it all, the salaries are tax-free.

This said, moving to a new country nearly always involves an element of stress. However, once you get over the initial culture shock, most expats discover that Oman is a relaxed and friendly country; it is modern (and developing all the time), and yet it still retains a certain charm from the past that is unique to the region.

One of Oman’s greatest assets is its people, who are warm and welcoming, and who have a long history of fascinating traditions. You’ll also find a large group of friendly expats, and before you know it you’ll meet loads of people. Remember that rules and regulations change frequently in this part of the world, so keep your eye on the local press and be prepared for the unexpected.
