Summer entertainment on Yas Island
Date: 2015-05-31
From fast cars to fine dining, family fun to feel-good Fridays, Yas Island is the place to be this summer when it comes to all-round entertainment.
Before the school term ends or you head off to cooler climates abroad, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island is the perfect place to take the family or a few friends for that pre-summer treat. Petrolheads can drive a supercar around Yas Marina Circuit or head over to Yas Kartzone for some racing. For roller-coaster fanatics, Ferrari World is the ultimate attraction with the world’s fastest Formula Rossa – a real crowd-puller. And, if it’s all getting a little hot to handle, you can cool down at Yas Waterworld.
If you’re in the capital for a change of scenery on a day trip or overnight jolly, Yas Marina is a fantastic to visit. If you want to beat the heat, there’s every watersport under the (blazing) sun, including sailing, wakeboarding, kayaking and lots more. It’s also a pretty spectacular place to try stand-up paddleboarding – right in front of the Yas Viceroy on the protected waters of the marina. For beach life, Crowne Plaza has an excellent beach club-style pool, plus Yas Beach is one of the coolest places to hang out in this sunny city.
For foodies, Yas Island is home to a many popular restaurants and bars and a chic place to dine out in the evening. Cute Cafe D’Alsace serves tasty French snacks at very reasonable prices while outlets at Yas Marina include American sports bar Stars N Bars, elegant import Cipriani, seafood restaurant Aquarium, Lebanese eatery Rozanah, and Mediterranean tapas venue Diablito. Burlesque Restaurant & Lounge and the Skylite Bar are also unique venues at the stunning Yas Viceroy, which famously straddles the Formula 1 track.
Finally, for a frenzy of retail fun, Yas Mall – the country’s newest and second-largest mall – has added an extra dimension to the island’s shopping scene.
