This route features a delightful mix of desert driving, on both the sandy flats below some large dunes and in the dunes themselves, as well as on rocky tracks across the plains beside the mountains. The route does involve a border crossing but, once you're through, the driving and scenery are very mixed, making this an interesting experience of the UAE's varied landscapes.
