Clubs

While Abu Dhabi nightlife may not be ‘legendary’ you might be surprised by what’s on offer for nightime revellers. In fact, some of the city’s clubs can rival anything that other countries or cities have to offer.

Nightlife options
There are some dedicated nightclubs including the relatively new O1NE Yas Island, as well as more established venues like Zenith at the Sheraton or Enigma at Raha Beach Hotel. However, you'll also find plenty of venues that blur the lines between bar and nightclub or restaurant and nightclub. Etoiles at Emirates Palace is a classic example of the latter, providing an all-round night out in one exclusive venue, while Pearls at Shangri-La is a good example of the former, as it looks more like a stunning bar than a normal nightclub yet will enforce a strict door policy.

Dress codes
Generally speaking men will have more issues than women. Bars are quite relaxed with dress codes; if you don't look like you've just come in from a day on the beach or playing around in the desert then you should be alright. Many of the bars at Yas Marina for example will even let you in with shorts and flip flops as they cater for people who may have just moored their boats. Nightclubs though will mean trousers, shoes and probably a shirt for men, and even then you might have issues. Some more exclusive clubs use their disclaimer of being allowed to refuse the right to enter quite freely; if you don't look like the sort of person they want in their club then you just won't get in.

Lads night out
Be wary that if you're out with your male friends that many bars and clubs will not let the whole group in. Your best bet is to split into pairs or join up with some female friends to balance the numbers.
