Theatre

The theatre scene in Abu Dhabi remains rather limited, with fans relying chiefly on touring companies and the occasional amateur dramatics performance. Al Raha Theater remains virtually untouched and the National Theater on Breakwater rarely seems to advertise anything itself. Resuscitation Theatre is an imaginative company that is putting on more shows all of the time and have made use of the impressive venue previously. The Al Jaheli Theatre at the Armed Forces & Officers Club is worth keeping an eye on too; acts like the Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) popping up from time to time.

Amateur theatre is on the up in the form of Abu Dhabi Dramatic Society. They always welcomes new members, and there are occasional drama workshops to get involved with, most of which hold a performance at the end of the workshop. In Dubai the scene is perhaps a little more active, with the First Group Theatre at Madinat Jumeirah, the Palladium and the Centrepoint Theatre at DUCTAC all having regular shows.
