Boat

The waters around Abu Dhabi’s 200 islands are rich in marine life and on a day cruise you may be lucky enough to spot the local population of humpbacked dolphins or the endangered dugongs on your trip. Between March and July, head farther out and there is the possibility of catching a glimpse of the migrating whale species found in the region, including the blue whale. You can even stop off on a deserted island to explore, barbecue or simply relax in absolute peace. For a romantic evening spent taking in the city’s arresting skyline, several companies run dinner dhow cruises with buffet and entertainment.

Charters
As an alternative to an organised tour, you can charter a fully staffed boat for a couple of hours and sail around the Arabian Gulf, admiring Abu Dhabi’s stunning coastline with its countless islands and beautiful mangroves. And although there are no organised tours around the islands off Abu Dhabi’s coastline, Net Tours can tailor a trip for you. Choose which island you would like to visit or sail by and enjoy a personalised island hopping programme; hire a speedboat from Dhs.1,800, or a larger boat for up to 19 people from Dhs.2,400. Arabian Divers & Sports Fishing Charters can also organise private charters onboard a speedboat or 23-metre luxury yacht.
