Paying traffic fines

Abu Dhabi Traffic Police fines drivers for traffic violations such as speeding, parking illegally, using a mobile while driving and driving recklessly. There are several ways of finding out if you have been fined: you are pulled over and fined on the spot; you are sent an SMS by Abu Dhabi Police within 24 hours of being fined or you can check you can check at adpolice.gov.ae to see all fines and black points accrued within a 12-month period.

Before renewing your vehicle registration, you will have to pay all outstanding fines that are logged under the ID number that appears on your vehicle registration card. Log on to adpolice.gov.ae and click on E-Services. You can search for fines by entering in your car registration number, your driving licence number or your traffic file number. 

Prerequisites

  • You have been fined for a traffic violation

What to bring

  • Vehicle registration card 

        OR

  • UAE driving licence

Procedure

Follow any of the steps below:

  • Visit the fines section at any Traffic Police department, the DLD a post office branch / Empost outlets (cash only). This is the only way you can pay for fines incurred in other emirates too

        OR

  • Visit Abu Dhabi Traffic Police website (adpolice.gov.ae) where you can view and pay your fines by credit card. You may enquire about other fines, but payment can only be made for fines in Abu Dhabi
