Cancelling a Salik account

Your Salik tag is connected to the vehicle you drive and will need to be cancelled or amended if you sell or change your vehicle.

Prerequisites

  • You want to remove a vehicle from your Salik account as you are leaving the country or selling your vehicle

What To Bring

  • Vehicle registration (copy)
  • Resident ID or passport (copy)
  • Cash or credit card

Procedure

If you are leaving the UAE or selling your vehicle with no intention of buying a new one

  • Contact Salik Customer Service to deactivate or deregister the Salik tag
  • Remove the Salik tag sticker from your windscreen
  • Salik do not refund account balances. The balance will be kept in your Salik account for three years after which time it is forfeited

If you sell your vehicle

  • First you must contact Salik Customer Service to advise them of the sale of your vehicle so that they can update your Salik account. They will keep your account open with the existing balance ready for when you do purchase a new vehicle
  • Remove the Salik tag to avoid being charged for the new owner’s trips. For more information, visit salik.gov.ae or refer to rta.ae
