Markets
Markets are an integral part of life in Berlin, offering a chance to pick up everything from fresh fruit and veg to vintage clothes and records, amid the buzz of a thriving community scene. There are few better ways to spend a Sunday than digging through the trash to find the treasure at the various flea markets around town (there’s also nothing else open on Sundays, so those with an urge to splurge will have to satisfy their shopping addiction at outdoor markets). Food markets are held in many different suburbs on different days of the week, while flea-markets are set up all over town on the weekends. As well as the chance to pick up some unique pieces, browsing among the odds and ends is a fabulous way to get an insight into Berlin’s fascinating, fractured history.
