Normally only those in executive positions get company cars in New Zealand. If you are entitled to a company car it will be negotiated as part of your employment contract. Company cars are normally lease vehicles and restrictions may be placed on their use outside of working hours, for example you may not be able to take the car away when you are on holiday. If you would rather buy your own car haggle with your boss during your contract negotiations – you may be able to get a bit of extra money if you forego the perk of a company car.
