Marriage Certificate & Registration
Getting married can be as simple as going to your local ward office and signing the necessary papers, or as extravagant as hosting a traditional Shinto wedding at a shrine. Other popular options include Western-style, Buddhist, Christian and non-religious ceremonies. A foreign couple can also get married in Japan, or choose to just do the paperwork in Japan and wait and have the ceremony back home. Popular venues include shrines such as Sensōji, which will cost around ¥70,000, Kanda Myōjin (www.kandamyoujin.or.jp) and Meiji Jingū.
