In the event of a breakdown, it’s best to try and get your vehicle off the road, or at least to a safe area where you won’t be obstructing traffic. If this isn’t possible you should set up a cone, safety triangle or other marker about 15 to 20m behind the car so that traffic will realise there’s a stalled car on the road and have time to change lanes.
