Vehicle Repairs
When you take your vehicle in for repair you’ll need your driving licence and vehicle registration. Some garages will want to see a copy of your insurance company report or police report if the damage is the result of an accident, so it’s best to bring these along if this is the case. Many insurance companies will give you a list of garages that you can use if you’re making a claim. The deductible for claims depends on your insurance coverage, but it’s generally around $500. If your car is under warranty you’ll be able to use the agency garage, usually without having to pay a premium to your insurance company.
In Singapore much of the wear and tear on your car is weather related: your aircon will work hard; overheating engines aren’t uncommon if you don’t watch your radiator fluid levels; and the rain, sun, heat and humidity can be tough on your car’s exterior. Otherwise, your car should age at a normal rate, with the usual repairs, check-ups and maintenance along the way. Most agency garages are quite good. Other garages worth considering include STAR Automotive (www.star.com.sg) which has a branch in Queensway and another in Bedok, and Riverview Auto Services in Ang Mo Kio.
