Equipment & Supplies
With diving being such a popular sport in the UAE, dive gear is easy to find and the range is pretty good.
Entry-level dive gear or snorkelling kits are generally widely available in the UAE. Go Sports, for example, stock a range of Mares and Cressi gear from fins and masks to regulators and dive computers. You'll find a range of wetsuits there - even semi-dry suits! - and some good dive bags.
Al Boom Marine and Adventure HQ are best for your higher-end, nore specialised gear. Staff will be able to advise you on your purchases and they do airfulls and service your gear too.
Many of your dives here will be donw as part of a group and you'll go out to the site by boat. Seeing as most dive gear is pretty uniform (black neoprene with possibly a splash of colour), it makes sense to mark your gear so that you'll be able to spot it quickly on a dive boat or in a dive centre when everyone is kitting up.
Rinsing your gear off well in cold, desalinated water after each dive is a must and the climate requires that you need to do gear maintenance checks more frequently than you might elsewhere in the world.
