Getting there
Fly from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Male airport with Emirates, Etihad or flydubai from Dhs.1,400 return. Resorts will arrange for seaplane or speedboat transfers from Male, adding the (often hefty) charge to your check-out bill.
Visas
Visitors to the Maldives will be granted a 30-day tourist visa on arrival.

One hour ahead of the UAE.
Climate
The Maldives has a tropical climate with average temperatures hovering around 30°C. Between January and March it is dry, although monsoons from the northeast can still bring rain. The chance of rain increases between May and November and humidity is higher too. However, this is also when resort prices are lower. March to October is the best time to visit for surfers, as this is when the swells are at their biggest.
