Selling the Property
When selling your property you can do it privately but you will have to handle all the paperwork involved and enlist the help of a notary to draw up all the agreements. It is possible to do but does mean you have to be available to show the house and handle all of the advertising. This is not too difficult as there are many housing websites to post your property on, and many people do opt to sell in this way. It is far more common – and advisable if you are not familiar with Dutch real estate law – to go through an agent. Your agent will provide you with a valuation and advise you on your asking price, as well as the market conditions. They will also advertise the property and use their network of contacts to garner further interest, guiding you through the negotiation process and the necessary contracts. Any profit made on the sale of your house is tax free.
