A fairly popular area for expats, the population here is older than in other areas of Amsterdam, with most people being over 50. The area is quite expensive and not very attractive, though houses are larger. The Martin Luther King Park is located in Zuider Amstel; it hosts the Parade in August of every year, which is great fun. Zuider Amstel is very accessible by public transport. Waiting for a parking permit can take up to six months.
