Humanitarian Parole

‘Parole’ is available to foreigners outside of the US who are in immediate peril or offer significant public benefit to the US. Requests are considered by the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on a case by case basis within 60 to 90 business days. If you are awarded entry, the length of your stay is defined by the reason for your request, but limited to one year. Such a request may be made by anyone, including the prospective parolee or a concerned organisation. Forms I-131 and I-134 need to be sent to the Department of Homeland Security. Be specific and include evidence of your claimed circumstances. There is no process of appeal, but you may reapply (and repay the fee) if more information comes to light. Humanitarian relief can also be found through Temporary Protected Status and Asylum and Refugee programmes. These are each defined to address specific issues and nations, so you must review the criteria to determine if one of these applies to you.
