School days are Mondays to Fridays. Primary schools usually start at 09:00 or a little earlier, and finish at 15:00. Secondary schools usually start at around 08:30 and finish at around 15:00 or 15:15. The school year runs from the end of January or beginning of February to December. There are four terms, each roughly 10 weeks long. Summer holidays last about six weeks for primary schools and about a week longer for secondary schools. The autumn, winter and spring holidays each last two weeks. Some schools run after-school programmes for children whose parents work, and some also offer holiday programmes.
