Education

Paris and the immediate surrounding areas offer an impressive variety of schools catering to the English-speaking community. Residents have the option of sending their children to private English-speaking schools or enrolling them in the French school system. French schools are free for citizens and residents alike but those with international sections may charge tuition. Essentially, there are three general options: International Schools, Bilingual Schools and French Schools that provide international sections. For school-age children the exact documents you will need will depends upon where you’re enrolling your child but, in most cases, proof of Diptheria-Tetanus-Polio vaccination and a birth certificate will be all you’ll need from your home country. Once you’ve arrived and have established an address you’ll need to provide proof of address when enrolling. Compulsory education begins at age 6 and ends at 16. If you plan to enroll your child you must do so the June preceding the September start of school.
