Hotel Apartments

It is difficult to negotiate a short-term contract on a lease in Shanghai. Estate agents do not get paid commission on anything under a year so will normally tell you that it is either impossible or that the landlord will not accept it. Expat-popular serviced apartments do exist, either as specialised apartment blocks or as part of a hotel. Fully furnished and more spacious than a hotel room, they often have kitchens and access to extensive facilities. They can be rented out on a daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly basis, with prices ranging from ¥7,500 to more than ¥50,000 per month for a two-bedroom apartment; the longer the stay, the better the price.
