The Pearl Line (Metro Line 3) runs through Hongkou, stopping at Dong Baoxing Lu, Hongkou Football Stadium and Chifeng Lu. The new Line 8 traverses the middle of the district, with stops along Dalian Lu to People's Square. Line 8 makes for a 20 minute ride to downtown. Line 4 also skirts the bottom of the area, with transfers to Line 2 at Zhongshan Park. To get into town by road, you can take a taxi along the ring road, then connect to the Yan’an Elevated Highway. The trip still takes 30-40 minutes – Sichuan Bei Lu can become extremely congested in rush hour. Many bus routes run along this street, making the route a time-consuming commute. Bus 21 runs from Beijing Lu to Lu Xun Park and several buses take commuters to areas around People Square, including lines 17 and 123.­­­­
