Amsterdam has a great variety of bars, from the traditional brown bar to the swanky lounge bar, the funky local and the late night boozer. You won’t have to look far to find the one that suits you for every or any night of the week. The centre has the highest concentration of bars but every suburb has its fair share. Once you arrive you’ll probably find a little gem around the corner from you that hasn’t made it on to this list, but the selection below should certainly get you started. You’ll find that most bars are independent; the larger hotels also have bars but they aren’t the most atmospheric or lively places to go out in Amsterdam.
