If your car breaks down you should try and move it out of the path of traffic. If you cannot, or it is too dangerous to move the car you should make sure your hazard lights are on. Call for assistance immediately. If you are making a journey off the beaten track make sure you have a mobile and that you have told someone where you are going and your expected travel time. You should always have extra water in the car, for you and the car, and make sure you have a spare tyre and tyre changing kit. It’s also worthwhile being a member of a roadside assistance organisation as if you're a member you’ll pay less for the service should you need to call upon it.
