Cabaret & Strip Shows
Dublin’s strip scene is a relatively new phenomenon with 10 clubs in the city centre. The clubs tend to be small and open seven days a week from 20:00 to 03:00. Entry costs anywhere between €10 and €30, and dances cost €30 and upwards. Club Lapello (01 679 0514, www.lapello.com) on Dame Street is Dublin’s best-established club. Entry costs €15 and dances are €30. A stretch limo service is available for stag parties and groups. The Barclay Club (01 670 6500, www.barclayclub.ie) on South William Street styles itself as an exclusive bar, restaurant and gentleman’s club with fully clothed podium dancing in the main bar and lap dancing in semi-private suites. Upmarket and classy it may be, but the prices are steep – 30 minutes in a semi-private suite costs €400. For something a little more playful, check out the Tassel Club. This cabaret and burlesque revue (www.thetasselclub.com) has regular performances in the Sugar Club, as well as festivals and private parties. The Tassel Club is a unique blend of burlesque striptease, swing, jazz, circus performance and old school glamour. For something more risque, Nimhneach is Dublin’s only fetish and bondage night and is held monthly in the Voodoo Lounge. Dress code applies – check out www.nimhneach.ie for more details.
