Accommodation
You’ll find many large bungalows here, often with swimming pools. Sprawling 1960s and 1970s designs predominate. Some have been extensively remodelled and modernised and these are the most expensive, with a large detached six bedroom house with pool renting for RM25,000 a month. Like most KL areas, you can pick up a bargain if you’re prepared to rent an older, unmodernised property. Although you won’t get as much for your money here as in Ampang, RM6,000 will get you a four bedroom bungalow without a pool. There are also areas with semiD and link houses which are a cheaper option. These are usually closer to shops and other amenities, which can be an advantage if you don’t have a car. There are only a few apartment buildings in this area with rents ranging from RM5,000 for a three bed unit. Damansara Heights is now home to several pricey gated housing developments, although you may find that prices are creeping down a bit in the older developments as each new arrival opens for business. Well-established gated developments include Jelutong Villas and Semantan Villas, while newer names to look out for are iDamansara and Seri Beringin. Expect to pay RM14,000 for a large four bed semi-D at Semantan Villas.
