The Pasadena Unified School District offers 20 elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools and one charter school, in addition to a continuation school. While some of these rank quite well, others fall behind. The area has around 41 private schools, including The Waverly School, Westridge School, Pasadena Montessori, Pasadena Christian School and Pasadena Waldorf. Higher education centres include the renowned California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and Art Center College of Design, as well as the California School of Culinary Arts, Fuller Theological Seminary in California and Pasadena City College.
