Hongqiao Airport
Located in Shanghai’s western suburbs, 13km from the city centre, Hongqiao Airport is primarily reserved for domestic flights. The older of the two airports, Hongqiao can be reached by taxi, bus or private car but offers fewer food and retail options than Pudong. There are plans to build another runway at the airport and an additional terminal. Once the construction is completed by 2010, Hongqiao Airport hopes to handle 40 million passengers annually. In good traffic, a taxi ride from downtown should take 30 minutes and cost about ¥45.
