For the casual cyclist, various sports shops sell more basic models at reasonable prices. Children’s bicycles are widely available in bike and sports shops, while the likes of Babyshop and Toys R Us have a range for tiny Bradley Wiggins wannabes, as do some supermarkets, such as Carrefour. Both adults’ and children’s helmets are available at the main retailers. Supermarket noticeboards and online classifieds, such as dubizzle.com, are good places to look for second-hand bikes.

For serious bikers, there are several shops selling specialist equipment and accessories, including BMXs. Some even do repairs. Joining a cycling club can also help you find the bikes or accessories you need.
