Clothing & Shoes

From BHS to Benetton, and Mango to Marchesa, Abu Dhabi has clothes shopping covered. Upmarket designer stores are found in most shopping malls and many hotels; The Avenue at Etihad Towers and new complex The Galleria are particularly exclusive, but there’s no shortage of high-end labels around the city.

All the main malls have a wealth of international high-street labels, including H&M, Topshop, Gap, Mango and so on. Marina Mall and Abu Dhabi Mall are particular favourites for mainstream shoppers. If you’re on a really tight budget, you can sometimes find excellent bargains in the souks.

Hypermarkets such as Carrefour stock affordable clothing and shoes too, or head to department stores like Splash and Centrepoint. Shoe Mart does a great range of good, budget-friendly shoes.
For something that stands out of the crowd, boutiques like S*uce, Ounass and Grafika step away from the mainstream selections and offer trendy togs from up-and-coming designers.

If you love designers clothes but not the price tags, browse mapochette.com. The online store stocks designer bags and offers a rental service. For designer fakes head to Markaziya East (between Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street and Sheikh Zayed The Second Street) or better still, to the streets of Karama in Dubai which are crammed with them, ranging from cheap knock-offs to good quality copies.

Mass summer sales take place around August or September, and there are more in January when stores get rid of the old and bring in the new. During the January sales in particular, the offers can be amazing. The Eid sales, around the end of Ramadan, are like January sales in countries such as UK, America and Australia – busy and intense, but well worth it if you’re an avid bargain hunter unafraid of equally fervent fellow shoppers.
