Car Accessories

Cars and their accessories are big business in the emirate, so you won’t struggle to find what you need. Ace and Carrefour have large departments selling everything from steering wheel covers to fridges that run off the car battery. Near the intersection of Al Salam and Al Falah streets you’ll find a number of small workshops where you can buy accessories such as alloys, window tints and custom seat covers and you can get them all fitted there too if you need.

Navigation Systems
GPS systems are available from major stores such as Plug-Ins, Sharaf DG and Jumbo Electronics. Car stereos are widely available, and are sold by most electronics shops, with some of the car dealerships stocking alternative models for their cars. To have them fitted, head either to a dealer, service centre or to the workshops around Al Salam and Al Falah – it should cost around Dhs.500 if you are providing all the parts.

Window Tinting
Many car owners try to beat the heat by having their car windows tinted. The legal limit is 30% tint; if you get your windows tinted any darker you could be fined, and your car won’t pass its annual inspection. The options range from the Dhs.75 plastic film from the workshops around Al Salam and Al Falah, up to Dhs.5,000 at V-KOOL which has a clear film that is more heat resistant than the tinted one.

It’s worth taking a drive to Yellow Hat in Times Square Center in Dubai for a fantastic range of products from spare parts and in-car technology, to imported, custom-made alloys and under car LED lighting.
