Date: 2014-10-09
Tempted outside by tepid temperatures? Here’s where to lay your towel…
Explorer’s round-up of the best beachclubs in Dubai:
RIVA Beach Club (Palm Jumeirah)
The pool, gym and gazebo bar have just been refurbished and the feel is relaxed with lots of shady spots under the trees. Feeling sporty? There’s kayaking and paddleboarding; yoga on the beach; Military Bootcamp, Box-Fit; and ladies-only classes. RIVA Ristorante has a beautiful nature-inspired, light and airy interior, and a shaded terrace with pool and sea views. Highly recommended are: crab and avocado salad, asparagus and truffle risotto, grilled tuna steak with sides of sweet potato mash and sautéed broccoli, and gooey hot banana cake – an ample, and expertly prepared meal for two costing approximately Dhs.400 not including drinks. Try delicious mocktails and cocktails as the sun sets.
Entry: Weekdays Dhs.100 and weekends Dhs.175
Yearly membership: Dhs.6,250 for individuals; Dhs.11,000 for couples; Dhs.15,000 for two adults and two kids.

Barasti (Marsa Dubai/Dubai Marina)
The best value beachclub by far as it’s free. The small beach by the hugely popular bar is scattered with sunloungers and square sunbeds large enough for two. It gets really busy from 2pm onwards at the weekend, and then the music is ramped up and the atmosphere climbs to fever pitch.
