You wouldn’t really think of badminton as a sport with a huge Middle East following, but it seems to be gaining popularity in a big way in Abu Dhabi with a competitive league and a number of die-hard fans of the sport. Members of The Club can enjoy weekly matches in the indoor court with occasional leagues introduced, while Duplays runs a recreational co-ed eight-week season for those who want to meet new people and work up a playful sweat in the process. Games are played on Tuesdays at GEMS World Academy and cost Dhs.350. Alternatively, if you already have the gear and a partner, many sports clubs and hotels have courts that can be hired on an hourly basis.
