Running

The weather is ideal for running for more than half the year, even though you’ll find dedicated types pounding the streets even in the height of summer. Evenings and early mornings are the best times to run in the hottest months. Clubs and informal groups meet for casual and competitive runs and to train for events. Regular, short distance races are held, as well as biathlons, triathlons and hashes. A favourite competition is the epic Wadi Bih Run. Teams of five run the 70km from Ras Al Khaimah to Dibba over mountains topping out at more than a thousand metres. Runners take turns on the different stages backed by a support vehicle. The Dubai Marathon is held in January each year.
