South of the city centre are the boroughs of Schöneberg, Tempelhof and Neukölln. While all of these fell within the borders of the old West Berlin, a peculiar dynamic has been at work since reunification. In the intervening years, as culture migrated east, swinging Schöneberg’s star began to fade, while the scene in Neukölln is just getting started. And in between, Tempelhof, site of the famous airport of the same name, has pretty much remained the same.
